About this session

Do you have a child or children that you support that find independent work difficult?

Are you always having to prompt them to begin a task?

Can they often lose interest and rarely get to the end of a task?

This session explores the barriers to independent learning and why children can become dependent on adult support.

You will learn effective strategies that can be implemented to support a young person to do things for themselves within a classroom environment.

As a result of this training, you will be empowered to provide a more effective support model.

Session Leader: Nicola Durrant

This session is led by Nicola Durrant, an Autism Specialist Teacher and Consultant as well as being a Mum to an amazing Autistic daughter. She worked as a SENCO for eight years and a specialist advisor for 13 years while also training as dyslexia assessor and gaining a Master’s degree in Autism. As an independent specialist teacher Nicola has a proven track record of first-class support and advice for parents and teachers and is a Director of SEND Station.
