About this session

The session explains the rationale behind using an arc to support the learning of phonics to read and spell. It is particularly useful for pupils struggling to understand and apply digraphs and have effective strategies for multisyllabic words.

Is your child or children you work with struggling with learning to read?

Are they confused by phonics and getting in a bit of a muddle with it all?

Are you at a loss as to how to help?

Are you a practitioner who has pupils who are finding it hard to engage with phonics teaching?

We Will:

  • walk you through the rationale behind using an arc
  • talk you through the terminology of phonics
  • show you how it can be used as a tool to support phonics learning

As a result of this session, you will have the confidence to use an arc with your children. You will have strategies to support you managing the hurdles that many children encounter when learning to read. You will be able to make a difference to their reading experience, giving them the gift of reading.
